We went and looked at and put a deposit down on 7 Red Wattle hogs including a Boar piglet to hopefully be our breeding boar next year. We think the cross of the Red Wattle with the Berkshire will provide a top quality hog with exceptional hybrid vigor. The Red Wattle is a easy handling hog that does well on pasture, is a good mother, has a rich lean meat, grows fast and is a heritage breed that has won many pork taste tests.
We pick them up in April when they are 8 weeks old. Some will stay as breeding stock and some will be sent to butcher for customers meat orders.
